The Deputy Chief of Mission Residence (DCMR) is located in the residential neighborhood of Belgrano “R” in the City of Buenos Aires. The property has 782.8 sqm. being the original two-story residence, designed in eclectic style, built circa 1928. Additions were later designed to blend with the original building.

Outdoors: The renovation and upgrading project includes civil works necessary to renovate the installed infrastructure in compliance with OBO applicable DS, redesigning outdoor areas to make them accessible per ADA/ABA guidelines.

The landscape was designed to incorporate native plants to preserve biodiversity. A focal point was created at the end of the pool, introducing vibrant colors and softening the boundaries of the perimeter pool fence with tall, decorative, low-maintenance indigenous grasses.

The main access area was designed to enhance the existing trees by planting hydrangeas and softening the visual impact of the new guard booth. Climbing jasmine with controlled growth was used to cover the walls. Additionally, a barrier of noise-reducing bushes was planted around the new generator, in addition to the noise reduction shed, to minimize the impact of noise during operation. Noise blocking bushes were incorporated as sound and physical barriers in service areas to soften the security fencing.

Auto drip and spray irrigation systems were designed to maximize efficiency and minimize water usage.

The existing swimming pool system was upgraded installing a heat recovery pool heater recycling the waste heat of the new VRV system installed.

All facades are to be restored. Outdoor lighting was designed in compliance with OBO Site Lighting Guidelines.

Indoors: The design project includes the renovation of the installed services, including but not limited to the upgrading and refunctionalization of the basement areas to accommodate the main laundry, storage and mechanical rooms; the restoration of main representational rooms in the ground floor; the renovation and expansion of the original kitchen and the service areas; the renovation of the family quarters in the first floor; the full renovation of all bathrooms on ground, first and second floors and the rehabilitation of the attic and gym to include a new bedroom-.

The entire HVAC installation was replaced with a new VRV heating and cooling system with heat recovery. The existing cold and hot water supply and distribution systems were replaced with new pressurized ones. The electrical/telecommunication & AV systems were fully renovated, including the grounding and lightning protection systems.
