CMR – MAIN ENTRANCE AND INTERIOR UPGRADE TO INCLUDE HANDICAPPED FACILITIES
The CMR residence is a culturally significant property, therefore, the requirement of the design project was to provide exterior and interior accesibility to the building and the main representational rooms on the first floor with minimum impact to the main entrance court and interior spaces.
SCOPE OF WORK:
- A secondary access to the building was rehabilitated installing a handicapped side-walk ramp to facilitate access from the main courtyard through an exterior ramp into the building. An interior ramped floor was built and the structure reinforced to install a new lift to access the main hallway through an original faux door which was rehabilitated for that purpose installing an automatic door opener for wheelchairs access. All spaces and installed means comply with ADA requirements.
- The intervention included infrastructure adjustment, particularly of the electrical/communication installations and the structural reinforcement of the original walls.
